The film is about the love-hate relationship between Buford Uan 'Bud' Davis and Sissy. Bud meets, falls and love and quickly gets married to Sissy. But their marriage is shattered when Bud sees Sissy allegedly seeing con man Wes. Bud then encounters the antagonism of the ex-con.
